Our provincial grassroots organization offers recreational and competitive opportunities for athletes with a physical disability at the Games.
We work with hundreds of community volunteers, BC Games Society staff and provincial sport organizations and partner organizations to present this five day event.
We are the only multi disability multi sport event in British Columbia and the largest in western Canada and the north western US.
BC Disability Games has over 38 years of history in the province.
BC Disability Games provides communities a lasting legacy of trained volunteers, increased awareness of the athletes' abilities and improved access to recreational and sport facilities.
The BC Disability Games are held in odd calendar years; Powell River 2007, Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows 2009.
Bid packages will be sent out November 2007 for the 2011 and 2013 BC Disability Games.
"Strength of Ability" will take place every summer and winter in even calendar years, BC Disability Sports will co-host events to raise awareness surrounding disabilities and sport in our province.
We will showcase these sport opportunities in communities throughout British Columbia. Please contact Jane Samletzki if you would like more information at jane@disabilitysport.org
Paralympic Pride is celebrated during a paralympic year culminated by a week of activities to showcase sport and BC athletes.
